|Year 10 College Taster Day|
16th March 2018
Last week, Year 10 took part in a ‘taster day’ at Cornwall College. Some students visited Duchy College to sample the agriculture and animal care courses, whilst three students visited Falmouth Marine School for marine biology and marine engineering. Most students took part in activities on the main campus in Pool where courses on offer were as varied as nail artistry, coding and technology systems and plumbing. It was also nice to catch up with former students Hannah and Codie, who are studying hospitality and catering. The day has given students an insight into the wide variety of options available to them when they leave Hayle. ‘ Boccia event: Representing Cornwall and already the Cornwall Champions, Hayle Academy team of six were set to compete against other schools and colleges in Exeter, for a chance to represent the South West at the nationals. There were 10 games overall, and by the start it was clear to see that the competing teams had, had lots of practise and their own equipment, but this did not faze these girls! Some of the games came to very intense, nail biting tie breaker rounds.
